Solange covered Bjork's "It's Oh So Quiet", last week in Belgium. She did a gospel of the song and showcased her impressive vocal range, which can jump from a high falsetto to a soulful croon. However, a good attempt on her part, she didn't come close to Bjork's version, or did she? Watch the video below and decide for yourselves.

Solange - Promotes Safe Sex Campaign

Solange has signed on with MTV’s Staying Alive campaign to raise awareness of the importance of safe sex among teens. Solange might not have been an obvious choice, because she was pregnant herself when she was 17. However, her experience does make her the perfect spokesperson. She attended the "Yes to Safe Sex" awareness event today in NYC to kick off the campaign.

This is what Solange had to sign about her decision to join the cause on her Twitter page:

Today I have decided to dedicate myself to MTV’s “Staying Alive” campaign. Yes, Yes, Yes to safe sex to prevent HIV and AIDS. The Body Shop has created a great Lip Butter to support the campaign and proceeds go directly to the Staying Alive Foundation. This is a very scary topic, it could happen to ANY of us. 3,000 young people under 25 are infected with HIV daily! But it MUST be talked about! My goal is to bring awareness in a very REALISTIC way. So many campaigns preach” Condoms Condoms Condoms” and it’s not getting thru..

Solange - Pepsi Smash Yahoo Performances + Pictures!

Solange performed "T.O.N.Y" and "Viva La Vida Loca" from Cold Play, for Pepsi Smash on Yahoo this week. It's nice to see Solange challenge herself with covers of other artists, however it seems that a song like "T.O.N.Y" does fit her better than the cover she made for Cold Play. It looks like Solange possibly used her personal life to make this Cee-Lo produced video. There's a scene of her coping with a one-night stand that got her pregnant and the guy stopped calling.

Solange's music on her latest album is truly amazing, she really went in the right direction.

Solange teamed up with Snoop Dogg for the remix of her hit single "I Decided", and I must say it turned out great! Snoop was the perfect choice for teh remix!

Beyonce and Solange Knowles Touring Together!

Last week, Mathew Knowles announced that Beyoncé will embark on a 110-date world tour that will begin in April 2009 and will go through Canada, Europe, the U.S. (with a one-week stint in Las Vegas), Mexico, South America, Japan, Africa, and Australia. Apparently Solange will join her big sis on this world tour!

After Beyonce's performance, you'll be able to see Solange perform at an official after-party. Details are yet to come.

Beyoncé is scheduled to release her third album "I Am… Sasha Fierce" on November 18th, while Solange’s sophomore release SoL-AngeL and The Hadley St. Dreams is available now.

Solange has filmed her next video for "T.O.N.Y" in New York City. Spotted on the set were her sister Beyonce (and that patchwork D&G bag), Teyana Taylor, Kid Cudi, and Cee-Lo who co-wrote the track.

“Years ago, we had theses shelves in our living room.” Matthew Knowles says. “They where filled with trophies and plaques my older daughter, Beyoncé, had won in different talent shows. I came home from work one day, and every last one of those trophies was broken and scattered across the room!” He smiles at the memory, shaking his head. “Solange broke them, every single one–and didn’t deny it.”

Here’s what Solange had to say about that memory:

“One day I just got tired of looking at those damn trophies, so yeah I broke ‘em up!”

Solange on the "Late Show"

Last Sunday Solange Knowles performed on David Letterman's Late Show. She gave an amazing performance of Sandcastle Disco. Solange will appear on Fashion Rocks (September 9th), and Jimmy Kimmel Live (September 10th).

Michelle Williams and Solange - MusicFest!

Both Michelle Williams and Solange Knowles performed last Thursday in New York at this year's MusicFest. Michelle is preparing to release "Unexpected" on October 7th and Solange just released "Sol-Angel and the Headley St. Dreams".

There are still talks speculating about a Destiny's Child reunion, however nothing concrete has really been announced yet.

Solange appeared and premiered her new video "Sandcastle Disco" on FNMTV last Friday. The video is very colurful, fun, happy go lucky! It also has some retro elements, which really make this video unique. There truly is no other video quite like this one out there right now, Solange has done a great job at directing and performing in her new video!

News on Solange's Upcoming Album!

Solange wants to make it clear that her highly anticipated upcoming album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams" (to be released on Aug. 26) is all about her and the type of music she wants to make. Her music shouldn't be compared to Beyonce's. Their music is very different from each other, and that's what people want. No one wants to listen to a copy of Beyonce.

Solange is definitely unique and her latest tunes are simply amazing!

Solange wasn't concerned with being perfect on this album," her manager and father, Mathew Knowles, told Billboard earlier this year. "Beyonce's already got pop, and she's perfect at it. Solange just wanted to sing from the heart. She wants her feelings and emotions to touch you. That's why 'God Given Name' was purposely the first song -- so she can share with you how different she is."

Solange created a sound on that is less pop and more of a mix of '60s and '70s music with subtle hints of electronic.

"I really hope that I achieve what my definition of success is," Solange says. "I'm going to continue to make music. I will definitely do things on my own terms and standards. I want to be at a level where this feels totally organic and it feels fun and enjoyable and it doesn't feel like a job. If that's the case, then I would've just gone to college and gotten me a nine-to-five."

Here's a new Solange song called "F*@k the Industry (signed Sincerely)". This is what Solange had to say about the song, I must say I agree with her.

“Unfortunately I’m in an industry where diversity is not celebrated the way it should be. When some people see and hear something different it feels foreign to them and they don’t like that. Everyone has a choice of what they like and that’s a beautiful thing! But record labels, managers, publicist, journalist, media etc… have a tendency to see something work and try to reciprocate that with another artist thinking that’s what makes success. To me what makes success is letting people be truly who they are.

When I heard Kanye’s ‘Everything I Am,’ I instantly fell in love. I felt my story somewhere in his. I felt his frustration yet acceptance of who he was. So I decided to put my own little twist on it!”

Solange - New Armani Jeans Ambassador

Solange Knowles has been named Georgio Armani’s new Armani jeans ambassador.

Solo Star will be sporting Armani during Solange's European press tour and likely into her world tour which is will start after the release of her Sol-Angel and the Hadley Street Dreams project on August 26, 2008.

Giorgio Armani says: “Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool, fashion sensibility. Solange epitomises this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, ‘I Decided’.”

Solange wore an Armani dress during her performance at the House of Blues Sunset strip. The dress is stunning!

Solange sat down with Rap-Up TV at her Rap-Up cover shoot in West Hollywood, where she was accompanied by her three-and-a-half year-old son Daniel Julez. She discussed her song, her sister, and what music she's listening to.

Keri Hilson also sat down with Rap-Up TV at her cover shoot. She spoke about the songs she's written, the music she's listening to, and what kind of songs she'd like to write.

A couple of weeks ago I showed what Solange's album cover for "Sol-Angel & The Hadley St. Dreams" would be, but apparently it was the wrong one! I'm glad to see that it wasn't the final image for the album, it was too dark and didn't match Solange at all. New Solange Song feat. Q-Tip - "Wanna Go Back"

"Wanna Go Back" just premiered on the BBC Radio 1 yesterday, and one of my wonderful affiliates "Music Is The Heart Of Our Soul" ripped it. I have to say that this track is absolutely fantastic! It kind of reminds me of the type of song Erykah Badu could sing.
