Shakira Shoots Video For Gypsy

Shakira Gypsy
Shakira and Rafael Nadal are getting close in the teaser for “Gypsy” or “Gitana” in Spanish. Videos for the song are being done in both English and Spanish. Both clips show similar scenes with the singer seen lying next to the tennis player before then drawing her body closer to his.

"Gypsy" is taken from Shakira’s latest album “She Wolf”, which was released last October. The videos will both premiere on February 26th and were directed by Jaume de Laiguana.

Here’s a little gossip, Shakira was reported to have dated Rafael Nadal after they were spotted going out several times in Spain.  Her rep however says:

"We were all there, and Shakira only came when we'd finished the main course to have something to drink, accompanied by her manager, Ceci Kurzman, and Jaume. It was a dinner organized with the director to brief Rafa on what was expected from him in the video."

Too bad, they look sweet together, in any case Shakira will surely grace us once again with a beautiful video this February.

Shakira - Humanitarian of the year!

Shakira has been named “Humanitarian of the Year” by the People en Español Magazine for her work towards providing better international healthcare.

She was selected for the title because of her charity work with impoverished children through her foundation Pies Descalzos and Latin America in Solidarity.

Shakria told the magazine that she learned to have compassion for the needy when she was seven years old and her parents’ jewelry store went bankrupt.

To help her understand that some kids were living in even worse conditions, her parents took her to a park in Barranquilla where homeless children sniffed glue to forget their hunger, the magazine said.

“We had a comfortable life and then one day I was shown something else. From that day on, I became obsessed to vindicate my family, my family’s economic situation, and to one day help those kids that I saw on the streets,” Shakira explains.

“From that moment on, I was obsessed with achieving success to get my family back on its feet, to restore my family’s economic position, but I was also obsessed with someday doing something for kids like the ones who made such a huge impact on my young mind.”

Shakira - Becoming Too Political

In an effort to encourage peace and tolerance, Shakira has decided to record her new song half in English and half in Arabic. Arabic-American singer Dania Youssef will partner with Shakira on the not yet titled song.

Furthermore, an Egyptian composer Mohamed Saad is reportedly writing the Arabic portion of the song, as well as the music. Shakira is trying to show the positive sides of the Arabic world.

The video will be shot in the United Arab Emirates.

To be fair, perhaps she should make a second song and this time make one half in English and the other half in Hebrew. In general, artists shouldn't get so involved with politics.

Shakira - Live Nation News

Shakira is following in the footsteps of Madonna and Jay-Z by signing a contract soon with Live Nation. The deal is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.

However, she currently needs to finish off her contract with Sony BMG’s Epic Records and she still has two more studio albums to deliver, one in English and one in Spanish, in additions to a greatest hits collection.

Talks have been ongoing for 10 months, sparking speculation the deal could actually be worth much more. Jay-Z is believed to have received a staggering $150 million, while Madonna reportedly earned $120 million.

There is no indication of how long the contract will last, but both Madonna and Jay-Z have signed to Live Nation for 10 years.

Shakira is the highest-selling Columbian artist of all time, selling more than 50 million albums worldwide and raking in around $100 million from her global tour last year.

Shakira at the 4th Annual Plymouth Jazz Festival

Shakira could not be contained during her performance at the Plymouth Jazz Festival on Saturday night.

"These things happen," she said.

"Let's pretend that we finished that last song and I am going to make it up to you. The power could go, but I am not going anywhere."

Shakira continued to chat freely with the sold out audience, endearing herself to many, while waiting for the electricity supply to be fully restored.

"Please wait for me okay? Don't go anywhere. We're fixing it."

She continued into "La Pared" and thanked the audience for their patience.

The audiance was very impressed by her!
