When it comes to family, R&B singer Keyshia Cole says her love is unconditional. That is exactly what gives her the solid foundation for the highly successful reality show, Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is on BET. “Watching my sister and mom grow makes me feel proud of them,” she tells Jet magazine about her family’s progress.

Although Cole and the family keep it real and let it all hang out in the show’s third season, she hopes that her viewers will get something out of it as well. “I decided to do the reality show because there are young girls out there who are or were in my predicament, coming up the same way I had come up. I had them in mind when showcasing my family’s business.”

Keyshia Cole Covers Billboard Magazine

Keyshia Cole is ready to show a different side of herself with the release of her new album due out December 16th. Her third album, "A Different Me", is accompanied by the return of her BET reality show, which premieres Tuesday, Nov. 11th.

“The first two albums were more … painful,” she tells Billboard over lunch in Los Angeles. “It’s a different me this time: a young woman who’s still growing and finding myself, exploring life through different routes musically and in other areas. I wrote more about other people’s situations than my own. I’m moving forward.”

“A Different Me” features Cole collaborating with a combination of marquee names and newcomers, including Polow Da Don, the Runners, Neffu, Kwame, Orthodox & Ransom and the Trackmasters. On her previous albums, Cole worked with such songwriter/producers as Greg Curtis, Missy Elliott, Scott Storch, Bryan-Michael Cox, Rodney Jerkins and Sean Garrett.

“When I hear something, I hear it — it doesn’t take me three, four, five times to hear a song and say, ‘OK, let’s write,’” Cole says about her songwriting process. “If I don’t write to it right off the bat, it’s not working.”

And while the pain quotient is definitely lowered on “Me,” the emotional realness and accessibility that fans have come to love in Cole’s music remain — as do her searing vocals. (read more here)

Keyshia's third studio album, A Different Me, will be released on December 16, 2008. The lead single "Playa Cardz Right" features the late rapper 2Pac. Cole is currently filming the third season of her BET reality series, The Way It Is, which she confirmed is set to premiere in November of 2008. Cole cites singers Mary J. Blige, Allure and Brandy as her biggest influences.

Keyshia Cole feat. Tupac - "Playa Cards Right" Pictures

Keyshia Cole shot the video for “Playa Cardz Right,” the lead single to her upcoming album “A Different Me,” over the weekend honoring the late Tupac Shakur in the video.

Shot at the Tupac Shakur Memorial Center for The Arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia, “Playa Cardz Right” features the late Hip Hop legend’s mother Afeni Shakur according to Atlanta based photographer and blogger Sandra Rose.

Cole, who is set to release “A Different Me” on Dec. 16, is captured singing with several images of Tupac in the background during part of the video which is set for release within a few weeks.
