According to Billboard.com, Mariah Carey will not release any more singles from her latest album E=MC². Def Jam has axed the scheduled release of “Migrate” as the fourth single. At press time, there was no clear answer as to why the record label decided against the release. There is speculation it may have to do with sales. Compared to her previous LP, The Emancipation of Mimi, Mariah’s current disc has under-performed. E=MC² sold only 154-thousand units in its first week, unlike the 404-thousand copies Emancipation moved in its opening week.
However, there isn't only bad news, there will be a "Ballads" album released on October 20th. Sony BMG is collecting together all the best ballads for a brand new compilation called Mariah Carey - The Ballads. This single-disc collection will be supported with a major media advertising campaign that will see the album selling significant volumes right up to Christmas.
